Three great high school students need our help! Model UN is an enrichment program at Edina high school which simulates the workings of the United Nations General Assembly and its committees. Students assume the roles of diplomats of their assigned countries and negotiate international issues. Students make speeches, prepare draft resolutions, and negotiate with allies and adversaries. Students learn 21st century skills in order to resolve conflicts.
Each year there are several students who ask about scholarships, or let us know that they’d like to apply to travel, but they cannot meet the entire financial obligation.
All of the students are emerging leaders. All three students have engaged in outside work activities to help defray the cost. The advisory teacher would like to find a way for all three students to attend. The mother of one of the students had tears in her eyes when the advisor told her that we would somehow find a way to help her daughter to go on this trip. All three families will be contributing half or almost half of what they need.
Thank you to our generous donors who made it possible for these 3 EHS students to participate in Model UN!
